Irish TV
Irish TV is an Irish television channel. It launched on 1 May 2014 and the channel is developed for the Irish diaspora. The channel originally ran as part of Showcase on Freesat channel 400 and Sky channel 191 and replaced the channel's schedule. On 6 October 2014, Showcase was renamed Irish TV on the Freesat and Sky platform. It is also available on Eircom's eVision cable TV platform. ==History==
Founders Mairead Ní Mhaoilchiaráin and Pierce O'Reilly trailed Mayo TV for a number of years before setting up Irish TV. The channel is largely run under the satellite channel Showcase, which was generally a mix of programming from different providers. Irish TV is to take most of its schedule over the next number of years. On 20 August 2014 the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) entered into negotiations with Irish TV for a broadcast licence.〔http://www.bai.ie/?p=55664〕
